Fortunately Unaffected

Owners of the new Hyundai Sonata have a new reason to be proud of their cars as Hyundai Asia Resources Inc., the official distributor of Hyundai cars in the Philippines has issued a press release that local units are unaffected by the recall undertaken in the United States.

The recalled vehicles in the USA were manufactured by Hyundai Motors America (HMA), and have uncovered a loose steering column problem that HMA is now addressing via a recall. Fortunately, no accidents or injuries have resulted from the problem.

All local Hyundai Sonatas are unaffected by the steering column issue as all official Philippine units are CBUs direct from South Korea, whereas the North American units are manufactured at the Hyundai plant in the United States.
