Munich. The BMW Group is receiving three Awards from Industrie Forum Design in Hanover (iF), Germany, this year for the outstanding design of its products. So from now on the new BMW 3 Series Coupé and the new BMW K 1200 GT and BMW F 800 S motorcycles will proudly bear the coveted iF Label awarded by the world-famous institute. In addition, the BMW 3 Series Coupé is receiving one of the particularly exclusive iF Gold Awards, the most supreme special prize awarded by the international jury in the iF Product Design Awards.

The new BMW 3 Series Coupé is one of the most respected and admired new models introduced in the international automobile market in recent months. Through its body design alone, this two-door ex-presses its dynamic driving potential in a particularly elegant manner.

Like every BMW, the new BMW 3 Series Coupé, through its outstanding design, embodies the unique driving experience this model offers the driver and his passengers at very first sight. Hence, the new BMW 3 Series Coupé is a particularly authentic representative of the sports coupé segment. From the proportions typical of BMW with the long engine compartment lid visualising the powerful heart of the Coupé through the long wheelbase of the car and the passenger cell moved far to the rear, all the way to the flowing roofline with the slender windows below, the BMW 3 Series Coupé lives out its sporting ambitions in every respect and in every feature of its design.

Following BMW's design strategy, the BMW 3 Series Coupé offers a truly unique interpretation of the convex and concave surfaces so typical of a coupé. Over and above the sporting and low-slung silhouette, the entire body stands out through a touch of lightness promising supreme dynamism of the highest standard.

The stretched and sleek dynamism of the car's exterior design is then continued harmoniously into the interior, both the sporting and elegant design of the inner door panels and the sweeping flow of the centre console guiding the beholder's view in the direction of travel, thus supporting the experience of outstanding sportiness within the interior. And with the rear seats being separated by the centre console, the new BMW 3 Series Coupé boasts another feature typical of a sporting coupé, that is four seats all round.

In the opinion of the jury presenting the iF Product Design Award, the new BMW 3 Series Coupé is one of the most outstanding examples this year of attractive and successful product design worldwide. Precisely this is why the BMW 3 Series Coupé is receiving not only the iF Label, but also the Gold Award.

In all, no less than 2,293 products from 35 countries were entered in the contest for the iF Product Design Award 2007.

The iF Label is renowned and acknowledged the world over as a symbol of comprehensive, up-to-date product quality in design. Presented once a year, this special Award gives leading designers, manufacturers and brands the unique opportunity to successfully face global, inter-disciplinary and therefore highly challenging competition.

In recent years the BMW Group has already won a large number of prizes and awards, numerous vehicles as well as accessories and lifestyle products marketed by BMW Group brands proudly bearing the iF Label. In 2006, for example, the BMW 3 Series Saloon received the iF Label in recognition of its outstanding design.

In the annual iF Product Design Award products are assessed in 12 categories ranging from Consumer Electronics and Telecommunications through Household/Living, Leisure Time/Lifestyle, Indus-try/Buildings, and Public Design/Interior Architecture all the way to Transportation and Packaging. The criteria applied by the jury in presenting the award include the degree of innovation of a new product, its functionality, the visualisation of its purpose, safety, as well as the environmental compatibility of a new product.
