7-seat subcompact crossover debuts in Indonesia

Honda has unveiled it's latest crossover, the BR-V, in the 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show. The BR-V is the latest addition in Honda's expanding crossover lineup and it will be joining the HR-V and CR-V crossovers.

Based on the Mobilio, the new crossover is the smallest of the crossover offerings of Honda in the ASEAN market. In terms of its exterior, the BR-V isn't that far off the concept sketches released two months ago. The grill comes with Honda's Solid Wing Face which can be seen in the HR-V and CR-V. The front bumper features a bold character line that leads to the foglight housings below. To make the BR-V look tougher, the hood has a clamshell design. Two character lines define the side of th BR-V and also gets the Mobilio's downward kink for the rear window sill. The rear features wraparound LED tail lights while the tailight garnish connects the lights together. The subcompact crossover sits on 16 inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the BR-V comes with a different dash layout from its MPV sibling, the Mobilio. Instead, it comes with trapezoidial aircon vents in front and an interior theme that follows the company's crossover interiors. Honda claims Class-leading space in the cabin for the BR-V. Other interior features in the BR-V include a Multi-Information Display and airconditioning for the rear passengers.

The BR-V is powered by the same engine found in the Mobilio. The 1.5 liter, i-VTEC engine produces 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque. The transmissions available for the BR-V are a 6-speed manual or a Continuously Variable Transmission with Earth Dreams Technology.

As for safety, the BR-V is equipped with dual airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill-start assist and ISOFIX mountings.

The production of Honda BR-V will start in Honda's Karawang (Indonesia) factory in January 2016.
