25-year design veteran to boost appeal of Infiniti brand
Nissan Motor Company has appointed Cuban American Alfonso Albaisa to his new post as Executive Design Director for its premium luxury brand Infiniti. Abuse will be leading the global brand design team to develop future vehicles and concept cars. He will be based at company’s main design center in Atsugi, Japan.
“We continue to set up Infiniti for further growth in the premium segment,” said Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company Ltd.
Albaisa carries with him 25 years of experience as a passionate and seasoned automotive designer. He joined the Nissan Design team in San Diego, California in 1988 and has subsequently held senior design positions until is appointment as Design Director in 2004. He was assigned to Nissan Design Europe as Vice President in 2007. Upon his return to the US in 2011, he led the design of the Ellure and Xtrem concept cars as well as key production vehicles to be launched. In 2012, Albaisa was named Design Director of Nissan Global Design responsible for the brand’s future passenger car and Zero Emission Vehicle design strategies.
