4x4 to the max in Davao

If you're in Davao and want to try out the all new Isuzu D-Max, you're in luck.

From June 20 (Friday) until June 22 (Sunday), Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) is holding the fifth and final leg of the Isuzu D-Max 4x4 Drive in Davao City.

Isuzu Philippines, along with their Davao-based dealer, Southern Motors, constructed a challenging off-road course at the Dakudao Estate on JP Laurel Avenue beside SM Lanang Premier in Davao City. The drive is open to the general public and admission is free.

The new generation Isuzu D-Max 4x4 features of one of the highest ground clearances among pick ups at 235mm for the LS 4x4 and 225mm for the LT 4x4 variants. Isuzu’s new 4WD Terrain Command Select Dial also allows the driver to switch from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive high even while traveling at speeds of up to 100kph. Boosting the pickup’s off-road capabilities are its 30-degree approach angle, 22.7-degree departure angle, the ability to be tilted sideways on a 49-degree slope, and a Limited Slip Differential that lets it tackle any obstacle. The D-Max has a new suspension system composed of independent double wishbone with coil springs in front and semi-elliptical over-slung leaf springs in the rear.

The course features 13 stations that put the D-Max 4x4’s power, maneuverability and traction to the ultimate test. The obstacles and challenges included in the course consist of a 40-degree hill climb done in first gear and in second gear, a 40-degree hill climb with a stall midway up, a 40-degree descent without braking and a lateral climb mount, deep “elephant holes”. If those were not enough, there are also trail ruts, camber right and camber left sides up in 40-degree angles, traversing a roundabout cone, a lateral descent ditch crossing, driving over cross axle articulation rails and going on a steel inclined plane with rollers. All of these and more aboard showroom-stock Isuzu D-Max 4x4 pick up trucks.

“It is notable that Davao has always been included in our D-MAX 4x4 Drive Series since it began in 2008,” said IPC EVP Takashi Tomita. “This only means that Dabawenos are one of the strongest supporters of Isuzu products in the country. For this, allow me to extend my sincere gratitude on behalf of Isuzu Philippines Corporation and our dealer, Isuzu Davao”.
