Upcoming Jeep Yuntu Concept to feature plug-in hybrid system

Soon to be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Shanghai, Jeep has released the official sketches of their latest concept, the Yuntu. The supposed three-row SUV features a more futuristic design while at the same time retains the rugged look that an SUV should have.

Starting with the front, it is easy to see that the concept will showscase Jeep’s iconic 7-slot grille. The grille is then flanked by a pair of slim LED headlights which run all the way from the grille to the edge of the fender. Right below the grille are two towhooks in contrasting color to the body, along with what could be an aluminum underbody. As with most concepts, there is a raked windscreen and a thin pair of side mirrors, which will be changed during production.

Towards the side, there are familiar blackened box wheel arches found on most SUVs. One peculiar thing to note at the side would be the door handles being joined in the middle, meaning the Yuntu could have suicide doors. The other, being the “PHEV” letter found on the front door indicating the concept will sport a plug-in hybrid powertrain. No technical details have been release at this point however.

At the back, the taillights are sleek to match that of the headlights, which also extends towards the side of the vehicle. At the bottom are slim exhaust pipes, which help finish the theme of parts being slim, along with the aluminum underbody. The tailgate of the Yuntu could appear to split open given the small gap in the middle of the sketches despite looking like a non-split tailgate one.

With not much detail to go on, we will have to wait until the reveal of the Yuntu at the upcoming Auto Shanghai for further information.
