It took them some time to mull it over, but the GT Concept from 2011 is Kia's first foray into the coupe market.
After seeding the 4-door GT Concept in the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Kia is finally venturing into the sporty segment of the car-buying market.
Several sources have indicated that Kia plans to start production of the GT by late 2016 or early 2017, at the latest.
Conflicting reports say it will come as a 4-door GT but some say Kia is also considering a 2-door coupe with a turbocharged smaller engine compared to the 3.3L V6 of the concept model.
The production version will also most likely be a front-wheel drive compared to the concept’s rear-wheel drive.
To further boost the sporty direction Kia is taking, they are also planning a roadster concept to be unveiled in 2014.
