2015 Kia Picanto now available in the Philippines
Kia's supermini has just received an update as Columbian AutoCar Corporation, the official distributor of Kia vehicles in the country, has just introduced the facelifted 2015 Picanto with a redone exterior, new interior features, optional larger brakes and an improved manual gearbox.
Starting with the exterior, Kia claims that the 2015 Picanto has a more defined front end as it now features a wider front grill along with a flared front bumper that matches the brand's distinct 'tiger-nose grill'. The fog lamps now offer greater visibility as the automaker opted to use clear lenses and optimized it for low-light conditions.
The rear gets a sportier appearance according to Kia as they installed a new black diffuser that is integrated onto the bumper itself. There is also the optional 14-inch alloy wheels that come with a unique design.
Inside, chrome accents adorn the supermini's instrument panel, air vents and the base of the gear lever. Piano black accents on the other hand can be found on the manual gear stick itself and on the center binnacle. Moreover, the instrument panel now benefits from an LCD display while a new cloth upholstery pattern on the seats boosts the Picanto's youthful appearance according to Kia.
The audio system found on the Picanto has also been improved, specifically the basic 2.0 audio unit which now has a LCD display, better synchronization with MP3 music players and improved radio reception.
New 252mm disc brakes are now available as an optional extra which allows the car to stop from 100 km/h – 0 km/h in only 37 meters (standard 241 mm disc brakes stop in 39 meters). It now also benefits from smoother shifts as Kia stated that components of the 5-speed manual gearbox are carbon-coated along with a urethane stopper at the end of the shift throw.
The updated Picanto will still be powered by either a 1.0-liter 69 PS engine or the larger 1.2-liter 87 PS engine.
