MMDA announces coding suspension dates for buses and private cars
As everyone prepares for the 2015 Christmas rush, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) gives motorists notice of the suspension of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or ‘coding’ for provincial public utility buses and private vehicles.
In order to utilize the transport capability of every available provincial public utility buses, the MMDA has exempted all provincial public utility buses from ‘coding’ on December 23 and 29. This is to assist the thousands of passengers eager to their respective provinces to celebrate the Holiday season.
For private vehicles, the agency has lifted the number-coding scheme on December 24, 25, 30, 31, and January 1 metro-wide. We contacted the Las Pinas Traffic Management Office and confirmed that there will be no number-coding scheme on the aforementioned dates.
However, Makati has yet to announce if the number coding scheme will be lifted on the said dates (officially announced July 17, 2014 under Presidential proclamation No. 831).
Motorists are advised to regularly check with the MMDA via their social media accounts in order to get updated information should there be any changes in the announcement.
Number coding for private vehicles is in effect for December 23 and 29.
