F-Sport treatment to be available in both the Lexus LS 500 and LS 500h
Lexus will be at this year's New York Auto Show with a sportier version of their all-new LS flagship sedan. Set to make its world premiere on April 12, the luxury marque recently released a teaser image of the upcoming LS F-Sport.
While it relatively looks the same, the LS F-Sport features some key differences . For starters, the LS F-Sport gets large chrome exhaust pipes, as well as a rear diffuser painted gloss black. Topping it all off are what appear to tinted tailliights.
Like the standard model, the soon-to-be-unveiled LS 500 F-Sport is based off the extended version of the company's new global architecture for luxury vehicles (GA-L). According to the automaker, it is stiffer and more rigid than the previous architecture and will be available to deliver enhanced handling and a smoother ride.
Lexus also mentioned that the F-Sport treatment will be available on both the LS 500 and LS 500h. The former is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 which produces 420 PS and 599 Nm of torque. It is capable of sprinting from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
The latter is also powered by the same 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 albeit detuned. The engine only produces 300 PS but is helped along by two electric motors, bumping up the power to 359 PS. The powertrain is then married to a unique Multi-Stage Hybrid System which comes with a lithium-ion battery pack, 4-speed automatic gearbox and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The 2017 New York Auto Show will begin on April 12 and will take place at the Javits Convention Center.
