Lexus puts in LFA tech for the RC-F Coupe
Lexus Manila Inc, the official distributor for Lexus cars in the Philippines, has unveiled the higher performance variant of the RC-F. Called the RC-F Carbon Package, it comes with a carbon fiber hood, roof and rear spoiler.
According to Lexus, the use of carbon fiber improves handling thanks to the benefits of the lightweight material. Lexus says the RC-F Carbon Package comes with lower center of gravity which helps the car grip better, especially in cornering, and resistant to sideways G-forces. For the RC-F Carbon package, the amount of carbon weaves used for the RC-F range from 3,000 to 24,000 weaves depending on the strength needed for the panel.
For the hood and the roof, these are formed by four 0.5 mm think carbon fiber sheets pressed together to form the rigid, lightweight panel. As for the rear spoiler, it is made with composites of carbon and fiberglass within the weaves. Lexus says that at 80 km/h, the pop-up spoiler adds more downforce, improving the car's handling even further.
As for the engine, it is left untouched and the 5.0 liter V8 still packs 477 PS and 530 Nm of torque. The lone engine option is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. While the engine is unchanged, the Carbon Package recieves a torque-vectoring rear differential. In addition to the lighter weight, the special rear differential helps the car turn in much faster and carry more speed all throughout.
The Lexus RC-F Carbon Package is now available at Lexus Manila and prices start at PhP 6,658,000. The standard RC-F Coupe starts at PhP 5,868,000.
