Fifth model to utilize SkyActiv technology
First teased by the Japanese automaker 3 weeks ago, Mazda has finally made the global reveal of the new CX-3 crossover. It is the company's latest addition to their lineup and also their fifth model to make use of the company's SkyActiv technology and Kodo - Soul of Motion design philosohpy.
Its exterior has design cues taken from its larger brother the CX-5. The front end features the brand's distinctive grill and headlights while the bumper is integrated with turning signals and foglamps. Along the side, its wheel arches contrast the body color and the rear one can find a different set of light cluster that differentiates it from its bigger brother.
Inside, Mazda mostly used a white theme that encompasses the seats, A-pillars and dashboard trim. It has an instrument panel reminscent of other current Mazda models while the center console houses the pop-up display along with central rotary control. Additional interior amenity include an infotainment package that includes the MZD Connect in-car connectivity system.
Providing power for the CX-3 are a choice of 3 engines, two 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G engines in 2 different power ratings and the 1.5-liter SkyActiv-D clean diesel engine. Transmission options for the CX-3 can either be a 6-speed automatic or a traditional manual gearbox that can be connected to a FWD system or Mazda's latest AWD system.
Global market launch of the CX-3 will start in the spring of 2015 in Japan.
