New colors include Sonic Silver Metallic and Titanium Flash Mica
Apart from the debut of their latest crossover (the CX-3), Mazda has also unveiled the refreshed 2016 Mazda6 at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. First launched back in 2012 as the company's flagship model that utilized Mazda's latest SkyActiv powertrain and Kodo-Soul of Motion design philosophy, the mid-size sedan gets a plethora of changes which include a revised front end, a revamped interior and better sound deadening.
The front section of the 2016 Mazda 6 gets an altered grill design that enhances its three-dimensional look and is paired up with new LED headlights. Other exterior additions include a new compact shark fin antenna, LED lighting for the taillights, high-gloss 19-inch wheels and two new colors called Sonic Silver Metallic and Titanium Flash Mica that were first used on the Mazda3.
Aboard the Mazda6, the shapes of the instrument panel and center floor console were altered to give the interior a fresh look and panel gaps were reduced. The dashboard also gets updated and gets a 7-inch display and the multimedia control interface first seen in the Mazda3. A new off-white leather seating material is now available but Mazda is still offering the usual black leather finish but color coordinations have been changed. Sound insulation was also improved and also worth mentioning is the application of the Electronic Parking Brake for the updated Mazda6.
Under the hood is the carried over 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G engine that generates 185 PS at 5700 rpm with a torque pull of 250 Nm at 3250 rpm. The SkyActiv-G engine is connected to a 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic gearbox that drives the front wheels.
