It can go from 0-97 km/h in 3.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 320 km/h

Audi of America will debut their most powerful production car at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show - the 2015 Audi R8 Competition. A limited run of 60 units exclusively for the US market that draws inspiration from the R8 LMS racecar. It makes use of an uprated engine, lightweight carbon fiber elements.

Its exterior is adorned with carbon fiber trim that includes the fixed rear spoiler, engine bay, mirror caps, front spoiler and rear diffuser that not only lessens the weight of the car but also adds greater downforce. The wheels are finished in gloss black and sitting behind them are a set of ceramic brakes with anodized red brake calipers. Audi stated that the car will be available in a variety of body colors as well as a large selection of wheel finishes.

Inside, carbon fiber elements decorate the center console, dashboard and door sills. The interior can also be specified with a desired color theme, discerning it from other R8 Competition cars.

Powering the Audi R8 Competition is a 5.2-liter TFSI V10 engine uprated to 578 PS from the standard 525 PS and is mated exclusively to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox. It can go from 0-97 km/h in 3.2 secs and will go all the way up to 320 km/h, cementing it as the fastest production R8.

“The limited-edition Audi R8 competition is the closest road car to our R8 LMS ultra race car that has won virtually every race around the world. It is designed for the driving enthusiast and we’re excited to bring 60 units as a limited-edition to the U.S,” said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America.

All of the Audi R8 Competition cars will be produced at the Neckarsulm facility in Germany. Pre ordering will commence in early November while deliveries are expected to arrive at the start of 2015.
