Dela Rosa Transit is suspended for 30 days

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has put Dela Rosa Transit bus company under a 30-day preventive suspension after its bus with plate number TYM 249 slammed into the rear of a Toyota Vios and continued to crush it while the driver was still inside.

The incident happened on the northbound lane of EDSA in Muñoz, Quezon City on Thursday, February 5.

The male driver of the Vios, identified as Marcelino Umalin Jr., was conscious and moving throughout the one-hour extrication process after which he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to sources close to Umali, "he avoided a fatal injury as he instinctively ducked to the passenger side of the car sensing imminent danger."

The bus driver was immediately apprehended by the police and is currently under their custody.

"In special meeting today, the Board approved preventive suspension of the franchise of Dela Rosa Transit where its bus (TYM 449) belongs.  The board further required ALL drivers of Dela Rosa to undergo drug testing and road safety seminar within 15 days from receipt of Order," said the LTFRB via the account @LTFRB_Chairman.
