Well first of all, happy birthday and secondly, here’s your gift – 5-year validity for your newly renewed driver’s license courtesy of the LTO.

After revealing plans to modify driver’s license validity period in early August, the LTO has finally pushed through with the plan by releasing the timeline of the extension implementation on a graphic via the Twitter account of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

The initial implementation started at the licensing centers within the LTO Compound on East Avenue, Quezon City on October 10.

It was followed by full implementation in all LTO offices and renewal centers across the National Capital Region (NCR) seven days later on October 17, 2016.

All other LTO offices and renewal centers will begin implementing the new 5-year validity period as follows:

November 2, 2016        -        Region 3, 4, 7 and 11

November 7, 2016        -        Region 1, 2, 6, 10 and 12
