Sports simpler color scheme and improved security features
On May 8, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) said the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has released the first batch of new license plates for motor vehicles and motorcycles.
DOTC posted on its Twitter account that owners with vehicles registered Feb. 17, 2014 onwards can now get the new plates. Replacement of existing plates will start in the second half of 2014.
DOTC also posted a photo of the new license plates sporting black lettering with a white background, three control letters and four numbers. Old plates carry the “Matatag na Republika” slogan, a picture of the Rizal Monument and only had three control letters and three numbers.
The region where the license plate was issued can be found under the control letters and numbers.
The DOTC also said the new license plates has incorporated security features.
“The new license plates have security features that prevent removal and tampering, while the new design standardizes the look of all plates,” the agency said.
Furthermore, the new plates will also have reflective sheeting for better visibility.
