Lullutan bridge benefits four municipalities

President Benigno Aquino III has inagurated the PhP 772.92 million Lullutan bridge in Ilagan, Isabela which connects the east and west banks of the Cagayan River.

The 500-meter bridge was destroyed by Typhoon "Rosing" in 1995 and has since adversely affected transport and commerce in the affected towns.

The President said that the said project was led by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson. Aquino added that the Lullutan bridge would benefit up to four municipalities and over 200 barangays.

Before the Lullutan bridge's re-construction, residents had to use barges to transport agricultural products to the market in Ilagan City. With its completion, the administration said that residents no longer have to pay barge fees and travel time between barangays on either side of the river has been cut short drastically.
