Makati to close certain roads tonight for 345th anniversary on June 11
The City of Makati will be rerouting traffic along Makati Avenue starting 10PM tonight until Friday, June 12 6AM for the annual grand parade and street party in commemoration of the 345th founding anniversary of Makati.
Dubbed ‘Sampiro de Makati Festival,’ the festivities begins on Thursday, June 11 at 4:30PM at the City Hall of Makati through J.P. Rizal all the way to the stage located near Berjaya Hotel in Makati Avenue.
It starts with a parade and will culminate with a street dance competition and capped off by a street party and performance by five live bands.
To allow time for construction of the stage near Berjaya Hotel, the stretch of Makati Avenue from the corners of J.P. Rizal Street to Kalayaan Avenue will be closed to all vehicular traffic starting tonight at 10PM.
Makati has devised a rerouting scheme for all motorist below:
Vehicles from Mandaluyong City going to Gil Puyat Avenue shall turn right at J.P. Rizal Street then turn left at Nicanor Garcia Street (formerly Reposo St.).
From Mandaluyong City to Rockwell and Guadalupe, vehicles shall turn left at J.P. Rizal Street towards destination.
Vehicles from Gil Puyat Avenue going to Mandaluyong City, Rockwell and J.P. Rizal Street shall take P. Burgos Street from Makati Avenue.
One lane of J.P. Rizal will remain open for Taft-bound vehicles during the parade but after it has passed through, J.P. Rizal will be opened to two-way traffic.
