Mazda PH, MFI Foundation extend scholarship program for second consecutive year
Berjaya Auto Philippines (BAP), the exclusive distributors of Mazda vehicles in the country, continues its partnership with MFI Foundation, Inc. for a second consecutive year in providing scholarships to deserving students in its Industrial Technician Program (ITP), specializing in Automotive and Motorcycle Technology course.
Present during the extension contract signing were key figures from BAP and MFI. BAP and Mazda Philippines President and CEO, Steven Tan along with David Macasadia, Director for Customer Service, Aftersales and General Counsel of BAP, signed the extension contract together with MFI Foundation, Inc. Executive Vice-President and COO Antonio M. Kosca and Executive Director and Vice-President Manolo S. Santos.
“Mazda’s continuing partnership with MFI is truly a win-win situation not only for both parties but most especially for the students who will benefit the most with the training opportunities to be made available to them through our dealerships and service facilities,” said Dave Macasadia.
Macasadia added that with the positive feedback coming from the first batch of technicians that were trained last year, the company is looking forward for the next group of scholars that will get to experience the latest from Mazda’s SkyActiv technologies.
Currently, BAP and Mazda Philippines are already supporting twenty scholars for the two-year ITP course. The first batch of students are already done with the first year of the academic component of the program and are now undergoing a 1,440-hour OJT period at various Mazda dealerships in Metro Manila.
The course utilizes a TESDA-accredited Dual Training System where both Mazda Philippines and MFI share the responsibility of providing the trainees with the best possible job qualifications through an adequate level of specific, general and occupation-related theoretical instruction through the MFI Technological Institute and followed through by practical hands-on training at Mazda service centers.
Included in the partnership agreement between BAP and MFI are knowledge sharing and exchange of technology trends as well as on-site training activities at Mazda facilities. BAP has also donated Mazda car parts that are being used in the training of students in the Automotive and Motorcycle Technology course.
