Taken up a notch
Mazda is taking a unique opportunity for a manufacturer as the Hiroshima-based brand will be heading on over to Tokyo for the 2012 Auto Salon, bringing several modified rides to the show.
The car that will be headlining their display is the CX-5, shown as a customized model with matte black wheels, a special red paint and a lower ride height.
Alongside it will be special versions of the Mazda Demio (Mazda2 locally) with SKYACTIV technology, custom aero parts and other bits.
There will also be a Mazda Axela (Mazda3 locally) also with SKYACTIV and other aero parts, along with special versions of the Premacy and Granz.
Of course no Mazda display wouue complete without their sportscars, and the brand will be revealing a Mazda Roadster dubbed Black Tuned. The version will adopt special features such as BBS wheels, Bilstein adjustable dampers, gold-colored Brembo brakes and Recaro seats.
The RX-8 will also be there, as their rotary rocket will be attending as the RX-8 Spirit R. The RX-8 Spirit R is a throwback to the RX-7 Spirit R and comes with a 6-speed manual, 20 inch BBS wheels, Brembo brakes and rotors as well as a ride height that's 20mm lower.
Lastly, Mazda is coming with a race car version of their Roadster called NR-A Jimba-Ittai (meaning rider and horse as one). The racing MX-5 has special colors, Enkei 16 inch lightweight alloys, Bridgestone tires, Bilstein dampers, Endless brake pads, Takata racing harnesses and other bits.
The Tokyo Auto Salon will be held at the Makuhari Messe from January 13 to 15.
