Global production of Mazda's new-generation models exceeds 3M unit mark

Mazda announced that the global production of its new-generation vehicles featuring SkyActiv technology and Kodo-Soul of Motion design has exceeded three million units.

As of the end of November 2015, the Japanese automaker says the production of its new-generation vehicles reached almost 3,050,000 units. This was achieved by the Japanese automaker approximately four years after production of the Mazda CX-5 started at the Hiroshima plant last November 2011.

Mazda's new-generation lineup includes the Mazda CX-5, third generation Mazda6, third generation Mazda3, fourth generation Mazda2, Mazda CX-3 and Mazda MX-5. These models are produced in Hiroshima and Hofu in Japan, Thailand, China and Mexico, as well as being assembled in Russia, Vietnam and Malaysia.

“The entire Mazda Group is united by a single-minded desire to deliver our customers driving pleasure. That's why we take on so many challenges. Those efforts have paid off, and we have been able to exceed the three million-unit mark because our new-generation models have proven so popular with customers all over the world,” said Mazda President and CEO Masamichi Kogai.

In addition, Mazda revealed the seventh model of its new-generation lineup during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show last November. The 2016 CX-9 is a three-row mid-size crossover SUV that is expected to further strengthen Mazda's new-generation lineup.
