1.5L or 2.0L power for Mazda's favorite sports car
Mazda has just released the engine specifications of the 2015 MX-5 which debuted last September 2014.
In terms of powertrains Mazda has confirmed that the 2015 MX-5 can either be powered by a 1.5-liter or a 2.0-liter direct-injection petrol engine. The 1.5-liter engine delivers 131 PS at 7000 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. The said engine is mated to a SkyActiv-MT six-speed manual transmission.
The automaker has yet to release the official figures for the 2.0-liter engine.
As previously reported, the 2015 MX-5 is integrated with Mazda's KODO design language. Up front, it has angular headlights along with a 'smiling' grill intake. On the other hand, the rear of the 2015 MX-5 is fitted with round taillights while the bumper houses the vehicle's reverse lights. In addition, the vehicle is underpinned by a SkyActiv-1 chassis, 100 kg lighter yet stronger than previous generation platforms.
