The Mercedes-Benz G 500 4x4² gets green light
The Mercedes-Benz G 500 4x4² concept has been confirmed for production following the "outstanding response" when the German automaker revealed it in concept form at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show.
The G 500 4x4² is the newest addition to Mercedes-Benz's G-Class model lineup. Described as the "model brother" of the G 63 AMG 6x6, Mercedes-Benz says the G 500 4x4² is a four-wheel drive SUV that blends all of the advantages of the G-Series.
As previously reported, the G 500 4x4² is fitted with AMG front bumper, carbon fiber body panels, twin sidepipes and 22-inch wheels wrapped in 325/55 tires. The vehicle also has a stainless-steel underbody protection as well as a mesh front grill and an aggressive bumper. In addition, the G500 4x4² comes with a water wading depth of 1000mm and a 450mm ground clearance.
The vehicle is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, based on the unit found in the Mercedes-Benz C63 and AMG GT. The 4.0-liter V8 engine delivers 428 PS and 610 Nm of torque.
