With new efficient engines, new assistance systems, and a sharpened design

Mercedes-Benz has comprehensively modernized the E-Class to extend its leading position in the luxury segment even further. The new-generation E-Class features a new sportier and sharper front-end design with two new grille design choices. Its new one-piece headlamps are probably the first thing one would notice right away, it now combines all functional elements into a single housing but still retains the 'four-eyed' look of a typical E-Class. Meanwhile the interior has been subtly reworked to harmonized with the expressive exterior with new features like the two-part (wood or aluminum)trim which stretches across the entire dashboard. The instrument cluster has been upgraded with a three-tube design, The center console was also redesigned to remove the selector lever and introduces a new multifunction steering wheel mounted 'Direct Select' lever.

Mercedes-Benz's Intelligent Drive features a Multi-purpose camera that has two lenses and mounted at the windshield behind the rear-view mirror, this camera aids in gathering data and detecting vehicles and pedestrians that are driving ahead, is oncoming or crossing to be evaluated by the car and works with the Mercedes-Benz's Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Parking Assist, Attention Assist, Pre-Safe and Pre-Safe Plus system and also the radar-based Collision Prevention Assist.

Both the E-Class Saloon and Estate are available with a particularly broad range of  ECO start and stop system equipped petrol and diesel engines. It can now be equipped with either a 184hp(E200) or a 211hp(E250) four-cylinder BlueDIRECT petrol engine. Five diesel models which includes one BlueTEC hybrid model were also introduced. Two options for transmissions were also offered for the E-Class, a six-speed manual transmission and the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox.
