First car in its segment that can be fitted with AIRMATIC suspension
Mercedes-Benz teases the public by revealing some details of the MY2015 C-Class sedan. The upcoming C-Class benefits from developments in its interior design, suspension, and body construction.
The interior will feature an exciting, high-class ambience, touchpad, and head-up display. The new design will accent sportiness and luxury despite the use of unconventional lines. Among its highlights will be the center console that creates a sense of space a provides a free-standing central display. The touchpad, on the other hand, allows easy manipulation of its functions. Lastly, the head-up display allows the driver to see important information without obscuring the driver’s field of vision. The system provides information on speed, speed limits, navigation instructions, and messages from DISTRONIC PLUS.
Its body weighs around 70 kg making the entire car lighter than its predecessor by an estimated 100 kg. The lighter weight is attributed to the intelligent lightweight construction that uses aluminum. This will further reduce the fuel consumption of the car, and will set new standards in its segment.
A new 4-link front axle will provide excellent axle kinematics, improving the handling of the car. Furthermore, the new C-Class will be fitted with a steel suspension as the standard equipment. However, the vehicle will be the first in its segment that can be fitted with the optional AIRMATIC suspension on the front and rear axles.
