Metro council vote to expand number coding to reduce holiday traffic

In a bid to further alleviate traffic congestion in the metropolis, the Metro Manila Council voted to extend the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or Number Coding  by one hour for the holiday season. From the original 7 AM to 7 PM schedule on weekdays, vehicles will now be "banned" from using specified roads from 7 AM to 8 PM on weekdays.

The Inter Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) recently implemented the No Number Coding Window Hours for the cities of Makati, Las Piñas, and Mandaluyong. And the following roads:

-C5 (from Commonwealth to SLEX)

-EDSA (from Monumento to Roxas Boulevard)

-Entire stretch of Roxas Boulevard

-Entire stretch of Alabang-Zapote Road

The council has also essentially agreed to expand the no window coverage to all Metro Manila circumferential and radial roads. Pending the official resolution to formalize the new policy, the Metro Manila Council and the I-ACT are looking to implement by November 2.
