Metro Pacific submits highest bid for CALAX project image

Construction of CALAX to begin in July 2016, DPWH says

Metro Pacific Investments Corporation's (MPIC) MPCALA Holdings submitted the highest bid of PhP 27.3 billion for the proposed Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) project.

MPIC outbids San Miguel Holdings Corporation by PhP 5.1 billion which submitted an offer of PhP 22.2 billion.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Private Partnership Project Special Bids and Awards Committee (SBAC) Chairman Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut said that the SBAC Technical Working Group will review and evaluate the financial proposals of MPCALA Holdings to determine its compliance.

The DPWH plans to award the contract in June 4 while the contract signing will be in early July 2015.

The construction of the four-lane 45.5 kilometer closed-system toll expressway is expected to begin in July 2016 and end in July 2020.

The CALAX will start from the CAVITEX in Kawit, Cavite and end at the SLEX-Mamplasan Interchange in Biñan, Laguna. It will have interchanges in nine locations: Kawit, Daang Hari, Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, Silang, Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay, Laguna Blvd., Technopark, and a toll barrier before SLEX.
