Berjaya Auto Philippines, the official distributor of Mazda in the country, has just revealed the all new Mazda2 at the 2015 Manila International Auto Show. According to Mazda, the new 2 is an uncompromising blend of performance, safety and efficiency. The new 2 won Japan's Car or the Year for 2014-2015.

For the Philippine market the Mazda2 will be available as a four door sedan or five door hatchback.

The new 2 is now in line with Mazda's design language called Kodo and features Mazda's now signature wing grill. It also has a longer wheelbase to boost interior space and enhancing stability and handling as well. According to Mazda, they have also defied the usual “one motion” style popular in its class with its front pillars moved 80mm back while retaining the car's height. The movement of the front pillars and side mirrors aid in the car's outward visibility. The top of the line R model sits on 16” wheels while the rest of the range gets 15” wheels.

Mazda has claimed the new Mazda2 is more spacious and has more shoulder room up front and more legroom at the back thanks in part to its longer wheelbase. The top spec R models come with Active Driving Display, Mazda's take on the head up display. A seven inch display is also available with the R models while the lower variants come with a smaller 3.5 inch monitor. The Eco-display, maintenance remainders and warnings are shown in the car's infotainment system. The whole system can be controlled via the rotary knob or voice commands.

The new Mazda2 is now powered by a 1.5 liter SkyActiv-G engine with direct injection. It puts out 108 PS and 139 Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed SkyActiv Drive automatic transmission with a Sport mode. The new engine is what Mazda calls the “rightsized engine”.
