New, lower priced Wrangler to celebrate Jeep's 75th anniversary
Jeep Philippines will soon make Wrangler ownership a little more affordable this year. The company will be revealing a new Wrangler Unlimited (5-door) variant for this year's Manila International Auto Show.
The arrival of the Wrangler Unlimited Sport is Jeep Philippines' way of celebrating the brand's 75th anniversary by offering this special variant. The new model is priced lower than the former base model, the gas-powered Sport S. While details regarding the new variant are yet to be revealed, Jeep Philippines did confirm that the local spec Wrangler Unlimited Sport will still be equipped with conveniences such as power windows, automatic climate control and an audio system.
Philippine spec models are better equipped that their US equivalents with the latter having wind-up windows, no power locks, and manual climate control. While the former base model, the Sport S, rode on alloy wheels, the Sport will be riding on 16 inch steel wheels. Despite slightly less equipment, Jeep did not remove any of the car's safety systems. It gets dual airbags, traction control and stability control standard.
As for engines, the Wrangler Unlimited Sport is powered by Chrysler's 3.6 liter Pentastar engine. It develops 290 PS and 352 Nm meters of torque. Philippine-spec Wranglers all come with five-speed automatic transmissions.
Prices for the Wrangler Unlimited Sport start at Php 1,990,000.
