Updates keep Forester fresh for 2016

Following its ASEAN debut during the recently held Bangkok International Motor Show, Subaru Philippines has just launched the updated 2016 Forester in this year's Manila International Auto Show. The popular crossover gets a host of styling and technology upgrades for this minor model change.

From the outside, the 2016 Forester gets a new grill, tailights and rims. More changes are to be seen inside. The cabin has been refreshed and gets an updated premium head unit and LCD cluster display. Additional sound insulation has been added to the Forester for a quieter cabin.

As for technologies, Subaru has added a PIN code access system in the event of the key fob getting damaged or misplaced. Standard in the 2.0i-Premium and XT, the PIN access allows owners access to their Forester even without the key fob. The 2.0i-Premium and XT also gets Steering responsive headlights. This allows for better visibility when going around corners at night. Subaru's X-Mode has also been enhanced.

Changes were also made to the underchassis of the updated Forester. The front cross member of the Forester was stiffened while the coil springs and dampers have been retuned.

The Subaru Forester is powered by either a 2.0 liter naturally aspirated flat-4 (2.0i-L and 2.0i-Premium) or a 2.0 liter turbocharged flat-4 (XT). The naturally aspirated FB20 mill produces 150 PS while the top of the line XT gets a new FA20-DIT engine. The turbocharged powertrain now gets direct-injection which produces 241 PS.

Prices for the 2016 Subaru Forester are as follows:

Subaru Forester 2.0i-L: Php 1,448,000

Subaru Forester 2.0i-Premium Php 1,648,000

Subaru Forester 2.0 XT: Php 1,918,000
