Mini unveils the Clubman ALL4 Scrambler concept
Mini appeared to have taken inspiration from motorcycles and off-roaders after the company recently revealed the Clubman ALL4 Scrambler. Made by the marque’s Italian division, the new concept blends the ruggedness of ‘Scrambler’ dirt bikes and the compact dimensions of the all-new Clubman.
Immediately apparent on the Mini concept are the chunky off-road tires and the increased ride height. Also present are the bumper-mounted auxiliary headlights, luggage roof rack and blacked-out wheel arches and bumpers. This allows the unique one-off to tackle the elements with ease.
Making the car standout from the rest of the Mini lineup is the Midnight Frozen Gray paint and satin silver accents. The distinct hue is a direct inspiration from the BMW Rnine T Scrambler which has the same paint finish.
Like the exterior, the cabin also blends luxury and utility with the extensive use of Nappa leather and Alcantara. The seats and door cards get the leather trim, with the former having the Scrambler logo hot-stamped on the backrests. Meanwhile, the sporty fabric can be seen on the A- and B-pillars, headlining and center portions of the seats. It also has a leather luggage mats so as to avoid delicate cargo from moving around.
In terms of design, almost everything has been carried over from standard Clubman models. These include the 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, rotary controls for the climate control, touchscreen infotainment, chrome fixtures on the dashboard, large speedometer, and paddle shifters.
The exact powertrain was not detailed however, though it could be driven by the top-of-the-line 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-four. It produces 192 PS and 280 Nm of torque. It then can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox that drives all four wheels.
"Clubman MINI ALL4 Scrambler was studied by focusing on the design of the exterior and the interior details with the aim of giving greater prominence to the ALL4 can function as a real lifestyle, synonymous with freedom, originality and adventure, typical of café-racer motorcycles as the highly acclaimed BMW R NINET,” said Federico Izzo, Head of Mini Italy.
