Mitsubishi Motors Philippines spices up its SUV line up with the new Outlander 2.4 DOHC MIVEC. This new Outlander is fitted with a 2.4 liter, 4-cylinder double overhead cam (DOHC) MIVEC engine and will be called the Outlander 2.4 GLS. Although the DOHC 4B12 all aluminum engine is smaller by 600 cc and 2 cylinders less than the 6B31 3.0-liter V6 engine, it can still manage to pump out a great deal of power: 170Ps at 6,000 rpm and 226 N-m at 4,100 rpm. An INVECS-III Continuously Variable Transmission with 6-speed Sportronic mode transforms the engine's power to forward thrust and it is also coupled to a multi-select Four-wheel drive system where one can choose between 2WD, 4WD, or 4WD Lock mode.

Though this 2.4 Outlander GLS is more affordable, the level of amenities was kept at par with the 3-liter V6 GLS Sport model.

The all-new Outlander is fitted with auto-leveling High Intensity Discharge headlamps that does not only look cool but provides excellent visibility when driving at night. Front foglamps fitted on the bumper together also complements driving visibility at night. Fenders are bulged to accommodate the wide track and the 5-spoke class leading 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels with 225/55R18 tires. The roof is fitted with roof rails and a rear mounted antenna. The roof panel of the Outlander is made of aluminum to save precious weight and reduce body roll. At the rear the most unique feature of the all-new Outlander is its two piece flap-type tailgate that makes loading cargo easier. The LED tail lamps and LED 3rd brake lamps mounted on the rear spoiler makes it more visible than conventional bulb types while the tail pipe has a chrome finisher to enhance the appearance.

The atmosphere in the interior continues to be sporty thanks to its dynamically shaped dashboard. Three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel has silver accents and controls for the audio system, multi-information display monitor, auto-climate control, cup holders, two-level glove compartment, and a center console on top of the dashboard. The 2.4 Outlander also gets the class leading 650-watt Rockford Fosgate premium sound system (6 In-dash CD/MP3/Tuner with 9 speakers including a rear 10-inch subwoofer), magnesium alloy paddle shifters, and a tonneau cover.

The Suspension system of the all-new Outlander relies on McPherson Struts up front and a heavy duty multi-link rear suspension both having stabilizer bars. For safety, the body frame has been developed using the Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution technology to reassure collision safety. Brakes are all discs and are equipped with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. Dual stage front SRS airbags are standard and anti-trapping power windows are also equipped.

The all-new Outlander is available in the following colors: Carbon Black, Sapporo Silver, Adobe Grey, and Biscuit White. The Suggested Retail Price (SRP) for the Outlander 2.4 GLS is P1,440,000 and P1,688,000 for the Outlander 3.0 V6 GLS Sport. Vehicle warranty is 3-years or 100,000 kilometers whichever comes first.

The new Outlander 2.4 and 3-liter models are available at all Mitsubishi Motors Philippines dealers nationwide.
