Strada gets Montero Sport power
The 2.4 liter MIVEC diesel found in the Mitsubishi Montero Sport has now made its way to the Strada. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has now revealed the Strada GT which packs the aforementioned engine along with a host of upgrades.
With this new motor, Mitsubishi claims that the Strada is the first pickup in the segment to boast variable valve timing. The 4N15 engine puts out 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque, which is the same as the Montero Sport. In addition, the engine is also certified to be compliant with Euro 4 emissions. This new top of the line model comes standard with Super Select 4WD-II with the transmission choices being a five-speed automatic or a six speed manual. Mitsubishi has also included hill-start assist standard for the GT variant. The rest of the lineup meanwhile retains the 2.5 4D56 engine.
Mitsubishi also made cosmetic additions to the range-topping Strada. The Strada GT gets a black grill, silver fender flares and a set of two-tone wheels which are unique to this variant. It also available with a brush guard, driving lights, bed mounted rollbar or bed cover and a Ralliart skidplate. Inside, Mitsubishi gave their pickup an upgrade by trimming its seats in leather.
The Mitsubishi Strada GT gets a welcome host of safety equipment standard as well. It now packs in seven airbags with two for the front occupants, two for the side, a pair of curtain airbags and a driver's knee airbag. Also standard is the brand's integrated traction and stability control system called M-ASTC or Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control.
