Driving Your Business

The Canter has been a name synonymous with growing business, hauling goods for a variety of small, medium, and large enterprises nationwide.

Now, to meet the needs of the modern business, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation has just launched the latest version of their popular light duty truck, as the all new, 7th generation Fuso Canter rolls out on Philippine streets.

Designed and developed by the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus corporation, the all new Fuso Canter light duty truck comes in 3-variants: the FE71 4-wheeler and two 6-wheeler variants in FE83 & FE85 models.

The all-new Fuso Canter is powered by turbocharged intercooled 4D34-2AT5 diesel engine for the FE71 and FE83 while the FE85 is powered by 4D34-2AT4 diesel engine. The engines for the FE71 and FE83 models are able to produce a maximum power of 108hp/2,900rpm and maximum torque of 275 N-m/1,600rpm. FE85's maximum power is 134hp/2,900rpm and maximum torque of 370 N-m/1,600rpm.

Dating back to the first generation model more than 45 years ago, Mitsubishi Fuso has built more than 3.4 million Canter and 2 million medium and heavy duty trucks. Now, the new Fuso Canter offers an optimum light duty commercial vehicle concept. As a testimony of the brand's equity, the Mitsubishi Fuso is market leader for the light duty commercial vehicles among some segments in Asia and in Europe as well.

"We at MMPC are very pleased to introduce the all-new Fuso Canter and are certain that it will meet our customers' expectation levels for their light duty truck requirements. The Fuso Canter continues to draw patronage from both local and multinational companies, and even entrepreneurs as the Canter is well known for its reliability and value for money," Mr. Masahiko Ueki, MMPC's President and Chief Executive Officer said.

In 2009, MMPC have sold a total of 704 truck units, majority of which are Canter units, representing a 26% growth versus 2008. MMPC was also able to improve its market share to 33% versus 2008's 30%. MMPC expects to further increase its share in the truck segment this year with the introduction of the all-new Canter truck models.

"We look forward to the success of the all-new Fuso Canter and expect that this introduction will bring additional positive growth in terms of sales commensurate to the continuing economic recovery of the country," Mr. Ueki added.

The Canter is available at Mitsubishi Motors dealers nationwide for PhP 1,120,000 for the FE71, PhP 1,255,000 for the FE83 and PhP 1,355,000 for the FE86.
