Countdown activities begin February 18 at 7pm

Traffic in and around Metro Manila will be greatly affected as early as Wednesday night as Filipinos welcome the Year of the Wooden Sheep, which is why the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has already released information detailing other routes motorists can take to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

Beginning February 18, Wednesday night, the southbound lane of EDSA starting from the Bonifacio Memorial Circle until Boni Serrano will be used for the New Year’s countdown activities and will be closed to vehicular traffic effective 7PM until 12MN.

Starting 5PM, vehicles in the area will be rerouted as follows:

Northbound lane of EDSA between A. De Jesus to Bonifacio Memorial Circle will effectively become a two-way street

Vehicles on EDSA to Valenzuela:

Buses to turn right at Gen. Simon and turn left to Calle Cuatro

Other vehicles to proceed at rotunda and turn right to Mc-Arthur

Vehicles on EDSA to Sangandaan:

Take alternate route by turning left at A. De Jesus and turn right to 10th Avenue

Vehicles from Mc-Arthur to Balintawak:

Use counter flow at north side of EDSA and merge to right side traffic at U-Turn slot before A. De Jesus Street

Vehicles from Samson Road to Balintawak:

Turn right to Rizal Avenue Ext. and take 10th Avenue and B. Serrano to EDSA

F. Rizal Avenue Ext. will be closed to traffic from 10th Avenue to BMC.

Affected vehicles are advised to turn right at 10th Avenue and turn left at B. Serrano Avenue.
