Campaign period begins today until October 26 leading up to the October 28 elections.

Motorists will be given the heads-up before any election-related campaign activity hits any of the major thoroughfares of Metro Manila.  These are EDSA, C-5, Quezon Avenue, Marcos Highway, Commonwealth Avenue, España Boulevard, E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, Ramon Magsaysay Avenue, President Quirino Avenue, Aurora Boulevard, Ortigas Avenue, Shaw Boulevard, MIA Road, Domestic Road, Andrews Avenue, South Super Highway, Taft Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, Araneta Avenue, AH Lacson Street, Rizal Avenue, Katipunan Avenue and A. Bonifacio Avenue.

Candidates or political parties who wish to use the aforementioned roads need to notify the MMDA 3 days before their planned event.  Failure to do so will be considered an election offense.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said this is not to prohibit campaign-related events, but merely to regulate it so as not to unnecessarily affect the free flow of vehicular traffic.
