Making your way through the mess
The MMDA really is stepping up their efforts to provide the public with better information regarding traffic through their TNAV, orTraffic Navigator.
Launched a few months back, theTNAV provides a near real-time look as to the traffic situation along several of Metro Manila's thoroughfares. Now, the TNAV has gotten even better, as the MMDA and Interaksyon have added even more features and more roads, expanding the coverage of the system.
MMDA has added Marcos Highway (from SM Marikina to Sta. Lucia Mall), Commonwealth Avenue (Elliptical Road to Batasan) and Ortigas (from Santolan to C-5). C-5's monitoring coverage (Circumferential Road 5) was also expanded all the way to Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
As an added feature, each checkpoint is now clickable, showing more details about a particular intersection or junction on the route. They have also added Traffic Advisory bubbles that tell you if there is ongoing roadwork along the way.
It is indeed an impressive effort from the MMDA, and hopefully they can expand to cover all the major arteries of Metro Manila.
In addition, the MMDA also announced the release of version 2 of its iOS MMDA Traffic Navigator App, now available for download on the iTunes store. The application was developed by Giro AppSolutions, a company which MMDA 'Traffic Czar' Atty. Yves Gonzalez is part of.
