Motolite, the country's leading automotive battery brand, supported Earth Month with a month-long series of earth-friendly activities for the whole of April. Using the slogan was "Reuse, Reduce and Recycle," the corporate social responsibility group drummed up support, particularly for its waste recycling efforts.

Motolite's cornerstone Balik-Baterya program gained new adherents, with the signing of more corporate partners including: Fujitsu Philippines, Inc., Philippine Seven Corporation, Light Industry Science Park, and Union Galvasteel Corporation. It also staged a ULAB (used lead acid battery) collection event in Marikina City last April 18.

Motolite was an active participant at various Recyclable Collection events held at Paseo de Magallanes, Pasig City Hall quadrangle, Alabang Town Center, Nuvali, ABS-CBN, Rockwell Powerplant Mall, and TriNoma.

Hawak Kamay sa Pagsugpo ng TB! as well as the Quit Smoking Support Program of the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) were also among the advocacies supported by Motolite during its Earth Month festivities.
On the home front, Motolite manufacturer Philippine Batteries Inc. (PBI), based in Sta. Maria, Bulacan, staged a series of activities promoting environmental awareness among its employees. These included: junkyard wars, creek clean-up drive, solid waste area open house, on-the-spot poster-making contest, and pollution prevention seminar.

Motolite batteries are manufactured by Philippine Batteries Inc. (PBI), the largest manufacturer, exporter and distributor of automotive, motorcycle, and industrial battery products and solutions in the Philippines. Housed in an 18-hectare fully integrated facility, PBI is one of the largest and most modern battery manufacturing plant in Southeast Asia. It also has the only ISO 14001-certified and environmentally-compliant recycling facility in the Philippines, which is the second biggest in Asia.

Since its foundation in 1919, the company has been the industry leader in lead-acid batteries, making it one of the region's pioneers and longest serving battery manufacturers. PBI is the biggest investor in manufacturing facilities in the Asean region, giving Motolite a formidable edge over competitors. PBI serves not only the domestic market, but exports its products to the United States, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and other Asian countries.
