Flagship sedan makes world premiere at Detroit motor show
Mercedes-Benz went to the 2014 North American International Auto Show to launch the new C-Class and this: the new Mercedes-Benz S 600.
The new, range-topping S-Class flagship will be receiving a brand new 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine. The new engine features an all aluminum block, chain drive, forged pistons, forged crankshaft, a new ECU, twin-spark ignition, 36 valves (three per cylinder) and other upgrades. As such, the new engine makes 517 horsepower and 830 Newton meters of torque. The engine's efficiency is 21 percent better than its predecessor, and gets ECO start/stop.
The mechanical and electronic upgrades to the S-Class to make the S 600 build on the luxury already inherent in the Mercedes-Benz flagship.
"The S-Class has always been the embodiment of our claim to deliver the very best in terms of both technology and design” said Ola Kaellenius, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars. "And our flagship model, the S 600, epitomizes the focus of our development work, the 'Essence of Luxury', in a way that no other model can.”
“Our customers in North America and Asia in particular will enjoy this new top model with its exciting V12 engine,” concluded Kaellenius.
So, will we see the S 600 on Philippine roads in the near future? We'll find out soon enough.
