NAIAS 2015: Buick introduces Avenir concept image

Buick has revealed its flagship sedan at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Dubbed as the Avenir concept, Buick says it is a vehicle that displays the modern interpretation of the brand's historic design themes.

At first glance, you can swiftly spot the concept's aggressive LED headlights and large chrome grill. The Avenir concept is also fitted with ventilated front fenders and a prominent bumper that is mounted with slim fog lamps, chrome trim and mesh air intake. Turning at the side, the shape of the Avenir concept is characterized by flowing lines. It also has a chrome window surrounds and door moldings.

The rear of the Avenir concept comes with distinctive taillights and a huge bumper. It also features a pair of chrome trapezoidal exhaust pipes. In addition, the rear of the Avenir concept has a horizontal chrome bar placed above the license plate area. It is finished off with 21-inch alloy wheels.

Stepping inside the cabin, the Avenir concept features premium leather upholstery along with bamboo wood trim. It also has a three-spoke steering wheel, an ionic air filtration system, mobile device wireless charging, 12-inch infotainment display and ambient lighting. Moreover, the rear seats of the Avenir concept are separated by a full-length center console.

However, Buick has yet to release the concept's powertrain details. As of this writing, the automaker did confirm that the Avenir concept is powered by a next-generation V6 engine that comes with a cylinder deactivation technology and start/stop system. It is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and a twin-clutch all-wheel drive system.
