Engines are carried over prior to the update
With just one month before the 2015 North American International Auto Show, BMW reveals the 2015 refresh for the 6-Series. The updates done by the German automaker and can only be seen from the outside and on the inside.
Exterior-wise the signature kidney grill gets a new design while the front and rear aprons get a new look as well, emphasizing the car's width. For models equipped with the inline-six engines, larger tailpipe embellishers can be found at the back. The 2015 6-Series range now gets Adaptive LED headlights along with BMW Selective Beam and Anti-Dazzle High Beam assist as standard.
New metallic color palettes like Jatoba Metallic, Cashmere Silver Metallic, Glacier Silver Metallic, Mediterranean Blue Metallic and Melbourne Red Metallic added more paint finishes for the 2015 BMW 6-Series. A set of 17-inch wheels come standard on the six-cylinder models while the V8 models get the 18-inch wheels. The bigger 20-inch set is available as an option.
Inside, BMW only added minor details like two-tone leather upholstery and their latest heads-up display technology.
The engines are carried over prior to the facelift, with the 640i's 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six producing 320 PS with 450 Nm of torque while the 650i's 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 generates 450 PS with 650 Nm of torque. Those that prefer a diesel can get the 640d which is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that cranks out 313 PS with 630 Nm of torque. The top of the range M6 also gets the carried over engine which is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that lets out 560 PS and 680 Nm of torque.
All models are equipped with BMW's 8-speed automatic gearbox with Steptronic while the M6 can be had in either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual.
