Project proposals of DPWH, DOTC, DOJ, DA and DAR were approved

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board has just announced that they have approved 12 new infrastructure projects under five departments.

The NEDA Board gave the go-signal for the following projets of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

(1) The flood risk management project for Cagayan De Oro river which aims to address climate change by alleviating flood risk in the area.

(2) The Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue/Makati Avenue-Paseo de Roxas vehicle underpass project to attain uninterrupted traffic flow along the area. The said project will construct a four-lane vehicle underpass along the innermost lanes of Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue passing under the intersections of Makati Avenue and Paseo de Roxas.

(3) The phase VI of the Metro Manila interchange construction project to address traffic congestion at certain major road intersections.

(4) Lastly, the DPWH's project on restoring damaged bridges in Bohol was also approved by the NEDA board.

On the other hand, the NEDA board approved four airport operations, maintenance and development projects under the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC). The project includes airports in Iloilo, Bacolod, Davao and Puerto Princesa.

Other projects approved by the NEDA Board include the regional prison facilities under the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Davao Sasa port modernization, the fisheries, coastal resources and livelihood project under the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the convergence on value chain enhancement for growth and empowerment under the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Furthermore, the NEDA Board approved the request of the DPWH involving the Laguna Lakeshore Expressway-Dike project to proceed under a hybrid contractual arrangement pursuant to Section 2.9 of the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Build-Operate-Transfer law.
