Next-generation Jazz to be base of new scalable platform
Honda recently confirmed that the next-generation Jazz (Fit in other markets) compact hatchback will be revealed at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The design is said to be loosely based on the Urban SUV Concept (which it will underpin) debuted at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in January.
A Honda official also confirmed that the Urban SUV will be the design strategy that the brand will follow for its upcoming models. The brand’s current lineup has been characterized as having a lack of visual excitement which used to be the brand’s leading edge.
The Urban SUV Concept is also scheduled to make its debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show as well and is set to go against other compact crossovers like the Ford Ecosport and Nissan Juke in the new small SUV segment.
The Honda Jazz will make its Philippine debut most likely after the first quarter of 2014, after an ASEAN launch in Bangkok.
