Long-wheelbase version 185 mm longer than standard model

Nissan’s luxury car division Infiniti is set to launch the 2015 Q70 sedan at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, sporting a revised exterior and introducing a long-wheelbase version.

The changes outside include pointed light-emitting diode (LED) head lights, which accentuate the new, three-dimensional ‘double-arch’ grille that ties in very well with the sculpted hood and fenders. A new front bumper with integrated fog lights adds to the aggressiveness to the front end.

Along the side, styling changes to the fender and the front door help make the Q70 look more muscular than the previous M model.

Changes to the back are not as radical, with new LED combination tail lights and a wider chrome garnish above the license plate.

Meanwhile, the long-wheelbase Q70L adds 185 mm to the overall length of the 4,945 mm-long Q70. This translates to an additional 150 mm to the Q70L’s wheelbase and, according to the company, contributes to its“best-in-class” 823 mm of rear knee room.

Engines remain the same, with Q70 buyers able to choose: a 3.7-liter, DOHC, 24-valve V6 producing 330 PS and 366 Nm of torque; a 5.6-liter, DOHC, 32-valve V8 producing 420 PS and 565 Nm of torque (416 PS and 561 Nm of torque for the long-wheelbase model); and a 3.5-liter, DOHC, 24-valve V6 hybrid producing a combined 360 PS and 640 Nm of torque (not available in long-wheelbase form).

All engines are mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and can be equipped with Infiniti’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system.

The interior still features high-quality wood and leather appointments. It also has Active Noise Cancel which, the company says, “monitors cabin noise levels and generates “cancelling” sound from four door speakers to reduce noise, so it's easier to hold conversations in the car or to better enjoy the music.”

Other standard interior features include: Enhanced Intelligent Key, which remembers last used audio, navigation and climate control settings for each key, Bluetooth Hands- free Phone System, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and available next-generation Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with 8-inch color touch-screen display.

Building on Infiniti's focus to make owners’ lives easier, the Q70 comes with Infiniti Connection telematics services, which include the Infiniti Personal Assistant, a 24/7 personal concierge service.

The Q70 is also available with a suite of safety equipment, including:

  • Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System
  • Active Trace Control
  • Infiniti Safety Shield
  • Predictive Forward Collision Warning
  • Around View Monitor withMoving Object Detection, which alerts the driver to moving objects around the vehicle when pulling out of a parking space or backing up
