Lincoln previews upcoming full-size production sedan with the Continental concept

Lincoln has just released the first images and details of the Continental concept which will be presented at the 2015 New York Auto Show. Billed by the company to preview an upcoming full-size sedan that will debut next year, the Continental concept features a distinctly-sleek exterior, a lavish cabin and an EcoBoost powertrain.

Painted in the original nameplate's signature Metallic Rhapsody Blue, the front end features a chrome grill paired with a raised Lincoln badge. Sleek LED-matrix headlights with laser-assist high beams provide the necessary illumination. The rear on the other hand gets full-width taillights, a rounded bumper and quad exhaust pipes.

A technological highlight in the Continental is the E-Latch door handles. The E-Latch is hidden underneath the beltline of the car and will only open with a touch of a button. Also new for the Lincoln is the SPD SmartGlass® tinting sunroof which can cool the cabin by up to 7 degrees Celsius while also blocking 99% of UV rays.

Aboard the Continental concept, it has 30-way power seats, LED ambient lighting, a fully-reclining front passenger seat, separate climate control and sound system controls for the rear passengers, a champagne storage compartment and detachable travel cases upholstered in Venetian leather.

Powering the concept car will be a 3.0-liter V6 Ecoboost engine exclusive to Lincoln. The automaker has yet to release the concept's exact power output.

Other features present on the Continental concept include Lincoln Drive Control adaptive suspension, adaptive steering, pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, park assist and 360 degree view that displays through the MyLincoln Touch Screen.

"The Continental Concept showcases the promise of quiet luxury from Lincoln going forward. It also is a strong indication of what's to come next year as we introduce our new Lincoln Continental full-size luxury sedan." said Mark Fields, Ford Motor Company President and CEO.

The Lincoln Continental Concept will be displayed at the New York Auto Show which opens to the public this Thursday.
