92 LTFRB and LTO employees fired, in effort to stop corruption

President Rodrigo Duterte ran for the presidency with the promise to eradicate drug addicts and corruption in the Philippines.

“Please understand that when I run for the presidency I only promised for the economic future that we envisioned, eradicating or removing graft and corruption, drugs and criminality,” said President Duterte during the awarding ceremony at the 2016 The Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) Awards.

In the same event, he also mentioned of relieving at least 92 Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Land Transportation Office (LTO) employees from their posts due to corruption. "Others who do not like this are also welcome to resign," said Duterte.

Duterte said that he did not realize the severity of the problem such as drugs and corruption in the country until he became President.

Last August, the President had also ordered all presidential appointees in all government offices including the LTO and LTFRB to vacate their posts.
