Minor model change for locally assembled 2016 Almera
Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) has launched the locally assembled 2016 Almera that comes with an updated exterior design along with a refreshed interior and a new engine option.
During the launch, NPI President and Managing Director Antonio 'Toti' Zara said that the 2016 Almera features best in class interior and trunk space.
“Combining the best of fuel efficiency with generous cabin and trunk space that leads other cars in its class, the new Nissan Almera is the ideal car that will be with you and your loved ones through many of life's important milestones,” Zara said.
Compared to the previous model, the 2016 Almera has a redesigned front bumper, sharper-looking boomerang-inspired headlights and a larger V-motion grill with chrome accents.
Design tweaks continue to be seen at the rear end of the 2016 Almera. It has a revamped bumper along with a black diffuser cladding, a chrome bar and a lip spoiler. Nissan's subcompact sedan is finished off with 12-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside, it has a new center console layout that is integrated with piano black and silver trims. The 2016 Almera is also fitted with a restyled three-spoke steering wheel which looks more premium compared to its predecessor. In addition, the vehicle comes with a new multi-information display, rear aircon vents and leather seats for the top variant.
NPI says the 2016 Almera also comes with iPod connectivity, AUX/USB input and a remote keyless system. Of note, NPI General Manager of Marketing SJ Huh said that the Almera comes with a number of standard safety features including the anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist and dual front airbags.
For the 2016 model, NPI now offers the Almera with two different powertrains starting with the 1.5-liter DOHC engine that delivers 99 PS at 6000rpm and 134 Nm of torque at 4000rpm. It is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the 2016 Almera can be equipped with a 1.2-liter DOHC engine that generates 79 PS at 6000rpm and 106 Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The engine is connected to a five-speed manual transmission.
NPI said that the new Nissan Almera features upgraded, high quality parts and technology, which lengthens the intervals between periodic maintenance service (PMS). Furthermore, the cost of spare parts for the 2016 Almera are now lower than before according to NPI. The company claims that this keeps maintenance costs 30 percent lower than other vehicles in its class.
The 2016 Nissan Almera will be available in five different variants:
