New subcompact set to commence sales in 2010
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. recently revealed the official sketch of its new global compact car. The new March/Micra will be make its debut at the 2010 Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand slated in March and will be sold in more than 150 countries.
Two powerplant options for the new March/Micra will be in the form of the current HR15DE 1.5-liter engine as well as a new econo XH-5 three cylinder 1.2 or 1.3-liter engine.
At the same time, Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd. announced that the model will qualify as Thailand's first "Eco-car." Thai Eco-car government policy is effective today and will help promote the development of energy efficient vehicles.
Nissan has announced that production will done in five countries, of which three have already been named. China will produce for the local market, Thailand will be producing for Japan and the ASEAN market, while last but not the least the soon to be inaugurated Renault-Nissan facility in Chennai, India which will have an annual capacity of 400,000 units will be producing for the local market as well as European markets. The Rosslyn plant in South Africa is a likely candidate for production of the new model as well.
Nissan Motor Philippines has yet to make an announcement on the availability of the said model.
