One giant leap for the truck kind

Universal Motors Corporation (UMC), the local assembler and distributor of Nissan Light Commercial Vehicles finally unleashes its newest breed of Nissan pickups. The much awaited, all-new Nissan Frontier Navara. The pickup truck has garnered several awards including Australian UTE of the year, New Zealand car of the year, German pickup of the year, Spanish pickup of the year, and Consumer Digests' Best Buy in the US.

"With the all new Nissan Frontier Navara, we have upped the ante and raised the stakes. We are taking you to the next level with an evolution in design, and a revolution under the hood and under the skin," said Ms. Elizabeth Lee, EVP for Sales and Marketing of UMC.

Drawing from Nissan's technological DNA, Dakar rally racing experience and truck-building expertise, the Navara is built to weather the worst torture tests, third-world abuse, and the ravages of time. Albeit a latecomer to the foray of modern CRDi engine powered pickup trucks, the Navara boasts of a number of impressive and innovative firsts in its class. It is the first pickup truck to feature six-speed manual transmission mated to a second generation commonrail system. The YD25DDTi boasts of being the most powerful engine in its class delivering 174ps and a maximum torque of 403Nm.

Drivetrain is controlled by an electronic 4WD system with "Shift-on-the-Fly" function, enabling transition between 2WD to 4WD with the use of a dial even without stopping. This is further enhanced by a Limited Slip Differential which transfer engine power to the wheels with most traction.

The Navara also has the longest wheelbase in its class with the rear wheels pushed backwards further, resulting in a longer cabin and a longer, wider, and deeper bed as well. Underneath is a unique ladder type chassis frame with 8 cross members, making a sturdier chassis coupled with a reinforced cargo bed, allowing for exceptional cargo hauling capability. The vehicle also features an independent front suspension with coil springs for a smoother ride. High strength rear leafs increase load capacity.'

For the safety conscious, the Navara combines active and passive components into its exclusive safety system. With the Zone Body Concept, a front crumple zone is designed to absorb energy in a crash, while a reinforced safety zone shields occupants from harm. Side impact beams further strengthen door panels to minimize intrusion in the event of a broadside crash. Active safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), to prevent locking of the brakes and effectively balance the braking effort between the front and rear.

A worthy successor of the legendary Frontier name, the Navara is an incomparable combination of power and finesse, style and superior technology to truck enthusiasts. To pickups, it is the great evolutionary leap forward, the standard by which all will be built in years to come.

The Nissan Frontier Navara is available in 4x4 and 4x2 variants, either mated with a 6-speed Manual Transmission or 5-speed Automatic Transmission. Customers have five colors to choose from, Alpine White, Crimson Red, Cyber Silver, Galaxy Black, and Majestic Blue. Pricetag for the Navara is set at Php1,026,000 for the 4x2 M/T; Php1,076,000 for the 4x2 A/T; Php1,339,000 for the 4x4 M/T and Php1,389,000 for the 4x4 A/T.
